By Melanie Joy
She woke, she worked, she loved, she lived
And life happened
Apparently there is a lining in the vessels of one’s heart
It tore
It blocked
It damaged
And the pulsing muscle cried in pain
Miracles happen every day
Paramedics rush people to hospital
Doctors who study and learn and know things about the physical body
Make repairs that seem unbelievable and are undoubtedly miraculous
In another era or in a different place
This miracle may have been tragedy
But it wasn’t for her that day
There was still more for her in this world
And here she is
Alive, waking up, working, loving, living
Breathing
Heart beating
And what has changed?
Nothing
Everything
