Supporting Mental & Emotional Health



One of Elevation’s Key Values is Life Together, which means, in part, that we want to be ‘real’ with one another – to live with integrity. But the very real challenges we face with respect to our mental health can create barriers to this kind of community. As a church, then, we have been growing in both our awareness of the challenges we face along the road to mental health and in our commitment to supporting one another along the way.

We are committed to opening up space for conversations about various topics related to mental health, both for those who are struggling in a certain area and those who want to learn how to support the people around them.  Topics and workshops we have engaged in have included:

“Mindful Mondays” – Through the month of February we gathered on Monday evenings to discuss some tools and practices for coping with anxiety and life’s difficulties.  Stay tuned for further “Mindful Mondays” throughout the year.

SafeTALK workshop With the support of a grant from the Waterloo Region Suicide Prevention Council, as well as the donation of time by LifeVoice, the Pastoral Care Team hosted two safeTALK workshops this year to train individuals to become “suicide-alert” and to know where to point to community resources.
